Tax Rebate for International Productions
(TRIP) – France

KEY FEATURES OF THE TRIP PROGRAM

The Tax Rebate for International Productions (TRIP) is a French tax incentive designed to attract foreign film and television productions to France by offering financial advantages for expenses incurred in the country.

  • Tax Rebate Rate:

    • Productions can benefit from a 30% tax rebate on eligible expenditures in France.

    • The rebate increases to 40% for projects with more than €2 million in eligible expenses related to visual effects (VFX) in France.

  • Maximum Rebate per Project:

    • The total rebate amount is capped at €30 million per project.

​

  • Eligible Expenses:

    • Salaries and fees paid to authors, actors, directors, and production crew who are French or from the European Union (subject to minimum wage requirements set by collective agreements), along with associated social charges.

    • Expenses related to technical services, equipment, and specialized service providers in France.

    • Transportation, accommodation, and catering costs incurred in France.

    • Depreciation costs of equipment used for production.

  • Eligibility Criteria:

    • The production must spend at least €250,000 in France or allocate at least 50% of its global budget to expenses in France.

    • Live-action productions must shoot at least five days in France.

    • The project must meet cultural eligibility requirements, meaning it should include elements related to French or European culture, heritage, or territory, based on a specific cultural test.

  • Who Can Benefit?

    • The tax rebate is granted to a French production services company that is contractually engaged with a foreign production company. This company is responsible for providing the artistic and technical resources needed for production, as well as ensuring its proper execution.
